Description:

Founded in 1977, Abbey Gate College is the longest running, independent, co-educational school for pupils aged 4 to 18 in Chester. Set in idyllic rural surroundings on the outskirts of the city, the Infant & Junior School is based in the village of Aldford, with the Senior School a short distance away in Saighton. The school is housed in Grade I Listed, Saighton Grange and modern buildings. There has been much development in the last few years, most recently a Sports and Teaching Pavilion, an all-weather pitch and a Foundation and Infants School building. The school promotes a love of learning, academic ambition and excellence within a welcoming, safe and caring community. A balanced education is provided and examination results are excellent. A wide range of sports are available to develop, challenge and inspire students. There are a variety of extra-curricular activities offered, along with field trips and oversees expeditions.

Sport:
Main school sports are hockey, netball, football, rugby and athletics. 20 plus options including cricket, tennis, badminton, gymnastics, cricket, volleyball, riding, skiing. Also bronze, silver and gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. Clubs include Chapel Choir, debating society, drama, geography, music, science, young engineers.
