Luckley-Oakfield
What it's like
Founded in 1918 and dedicated to the education of girls. It occupies a pretty, rural location and an elegant Edwardian building forms the core of the school. Recent developments have created modern, spacious facilities and there are extensive playing fields and woodland areas onsite for both sport and recreational use. The Duke of Edinburgh's Award is offered to all girls.
Pupils & entrance
Pupils: Age range 11-18; 250 pupils (210 day, 40 boarding). Entrance: Main entry at ages 11, 13 and 16. Own entrance exam used. For sixth form entry, a minimum of 5 GCSEs at least grade B. No special skills or religious requirements. Approx 35% of intake at 11 from maintained sector.
Scholarships & bursaries
Academic, music, sport and art scholarships at 11 and 16, plus sixth-form drama scholarships. Discounts for siblings and armed forces. Means-tested bursaries up to 100% of fees available for pupils entering at 11 and 16.
Parents
Over 60% live within 30 miles of the school; up to 15% live overseas.

Exam results
GCSE: 40 pupils in upper fifth; 91% gained grade C or above in 8+ subjects, 9% in 5-7 subjects. A-level: 30 pupils in upper sixth; 70% passed 4+ subjects, 30% in 3 subjects. Average final points score of 433.
Pupils' destinations
100% of sixth form leavers go on to a degree course.
Curriculum
GCSE, AS and A-levels. 22 subjects offered at AS/A-level. Sixth form: Most sixth formers take 4 subjects at AS-level, 2 at A-level. AS general studies optional. Languages: French, German, Spanish and Latin offered at GCSE, AS and A-level. ICT: Taught across the curriculum and as a discrete subject.
The arts
Music: Many pupils learn a musical instrument; instrumental exams can be taken. Drama and dance: GCSE, AS and A-level drama offered; LAMDA exams can also be taken. The majority of pupils are involved in either school or house/other productions.
Sports & activities
Sports: Hockey, netball, swimming, athletics, tennis, cross-country, gymnastics compulsory. GCSE, AS and A-level PE can be taken. Activities: Pupils can take bronze, silver and gold Duke of Edinburgh's Award; CCF and Community Service are optional throughout.
School life
Uniform: School uniform worn except in sixth form. Houses and prefects: Competitive houses. Head girl and prefects elected by the Headmistress, head of house elected by the school. Religion: Church of England foundation, attendance at religious worship compulsory. Pupils may bring own car, bike or motorbike to school. Meals self-service. No alcohol allowed.
Boarding
Sixth form have own study bedrooms; most others share with 1 or 2 others; flexi-boarders in larger dormitories. Qualified nurse on site. Sixth formers may make own snacks in specially provided kitchens. 2 weekend exeats per term.
