International (Paris)
What it's like
Founded in 1964 and the only English-speaking school within the city of Paris. The secondary school campus is just across the river Seine from the Eiffel Tower; the primary school is on a separate campus, also in the central 16th arrondissement. The student body is very international, drawn from some 60 nationalities The language of instruction is English and there is much emphasis on the French programme (language, history and culture). The International Baccalaureate curriculum is offered at all three levels, from kindergarten to the Diploma. A very favourable staff:pupil ratio of about 1:7 permits much individual attention. The school ethos encourages respect towards others and the school fosters a happy and secure environment in which pupils can develop into responsible, tolerant and compassionate individuals. Academic standards are high and results are good. Music, drama and art are all strong. Dramatic productions take place in a professional, 385-seat theatre. The school uses local athletics stadiums, football pitches, indoor gymnasiums, basketball courts and swimming pools as part of the PE programme.
