d'Overbroeck's
What it's like
A co-educational college based in north Oxford, close to the city centre. The lower school in Leckford Place is for pupils aged 11-16. The sixth form is on a separate site in Banbury Road and attracts a significant proportion of students from other schools. There is a broad and flexible curriculum to build on students' interests and ambitions - nearly 40 subjects to choose from in the sixth form. The teaching is interactive and motivating. The maximum class size is 10 in the sixth form (an average of 7) and 15 in the lower school. Students' performance is regularly assessed and a systematic academic monitoring system helps students, parents and teachers track progress. The college aims to provide a stimulating environment in which learning is enjoyable as well as successful. The atmosphere is relatively informal (for example no uniforms in the sixth form) but ambitious, with the aim of giving the students the confidence and skills to succeed. There is a wide range of extra-curricular activities and pupils benefit from the many educational and cultural activities in Oxford.
