Intelligent parents often find it difficult to admit that their children have learning problems. Poor eyesight can be the reason for reading problems; if an eye test does not help, speak to the school or to a psychologist. Many who flounder in strongly academic schools will flourish in other schools, where they are more exposed to practical or creative subjects (music, sports, drama, gardening, mechanics) – or just less pressure.
