Children develop at different rates and education systems do not always cater for this. If your child seems to be having problems keeping up with the rest of the class, investigate the possibility of learning difficulties. But you may simply do better finding a school that caters for a wide range of ability: children often do better when they are not always at the bottom of the class. Some slow starters have turned out to be high-fliers − Einstein, for example.
