Gifted children may be held back and frustrated by their less able contemporaries. If your child is gifted in one or more areas – music, maths, painting, etc – contact the National Association for Gifted Children (www.nagcbritain.org.uk; tel 0845 450 0295). Consider whether your choice of school will be able to support and nourish your child’s gifts. Some do this well; many make big claims.
